European pippy oak

Rosewood oak veneer - ideal for upmarket interiors

Roseneiche Furnier
European pippy oak

This variety of oak owes its name to its small, bud-like burls with a dark core. Its contrasting appearance makes it particularly suitable for the vintage look. Rose oak is a special form of oak. It is made up of growths that appear as so-called roses in the longitudinal section. This special wood can be used for design elements or for turning and knife making. This wood is characterised by particularly beautiful, even and numerous healthy knots, which are also equipped with approach knots (due to exposure). The sapwood and heartwood are sharply separated. The sapwood is generally narrow and yellowish white. The heartwood is grey-yellow when fresh, later darkening to light to dark brown when exposed to air. Annual rings and growth zones are not clearly visible. The pores form an uninterrupted transverse zone in the early wood of the annual ring. Medullary rays broad and very clearly visible. The structure varies depending on location and age, usually straight to twisted, the texture also varies from fine-grained to coarse.
