East Indian rosewood veneer - ideal for upmarket interiors
A rare representation of the rosewood species is the East Indian rosewood from the genus Dalbergia. The East Indian rosewood impresses with its dark brown to violet-brown and purple colouring. As a fine wood, it is often used for expensive furniture and cabinetmaking. It is an exceptionally good wood for turning and is also used by sculptors as a carving wood. The sapwood is white-grey to creamy-yellow with a reddish tinge and is sharply differentiated from the dark purple or purple-brown heartwoodseparated by black stripes. radial shows decorative rays on cut surfaces with uniform and medium coarse texture. Pores large, scattered, Zuwachszonen indistinct, straight grained, intensely striped, very decorative.
