Walnut burl veneer - ideal for upmarket interiors

Nussbaum Maser Furnier
European walnut burl

Walnut is one of the noblest woods and especially large trunks with beautiful dark-grained wood are very valuable. The burl veneer is obtained from the tuber of the walnut tree. Walnut burl occurs in many forms: Full burl, half burl (cluster) and head veneer. Walnut veneer is derived from a walnut tree. These are harvested rather than sawn down. Therefore, the stock of usable wood from walnut trees is relatively small. In order to make this scarce raw material available to all, veneering is the ideal method. It is easy to work with all hand and machine tools. American walnut burl veneer is a popular veneer for musical instrument making. It is also preferred in the highest-quality interior finishing of ships or in automobile construction. The colour nuances range from a rich brown to dark veins in the area of the strongly pronounced grain.
