Mooreiche Furnier

Bog oak veneer - ideal for upmarket interiors

Mooreiche Furnier - ca. 5.000 Jahre alt - immer ein Unikat
Bog oak veneer - about 5000 years old - unique forever.

A gift from the past. Bog oak is one of the finest European veneers. The term bog oak stands for fossil oaks that have lain in the bog for centuries. Located in the bog, the tannic acids of the wood react with the marsh gases of the bog, causing the wood to change colour very strongly. The bog oak has a blue to green-grey to deep black colouring. The texture of the decorative, coarse-pored wood is striped or figured. Coarse pores and sharply defined annual rings. Wide medullary rays appear as light shiny bands in radial section, and as brown lines in tangential section in oak. Due to the acidic environment of the bog water, the wood of the bog oak has become strongly discoloured. This is by no means even and uniform, but varies irregularly within the individual piece between light grey to blue-black and deep black. The colour of the bog oak ranges from brown to dark anthracite. It is intended for high-quality interior finishing and can also be used in many other ways.
