Faux Citronnier Furnier / Movingui (Distemonanthus benthamianus) –A valuable wood from West Africa - ideal for upmarket interior fittings
Citronnier veneer, also known as lemon faux veneer, is the summer veneer with a slightly southern touch. The Citronnier faux veneer has a beautiful lustre. Particularly on the radial surfaces, a light reflection appears that is evenly distributed over the entire surface. Clear growth zones create a striped texture.
Appearance and properties:
- Tree: A large tree that can grow up to 40 metres high, with a diameter of up to 80 cm. The trunk is straight and cylindrical, up to 25 metres knotless. The bark is thin and smooth, rust-brown to brownish-grey in colour and flakes off in small scales, creating light grey patches on the trunk.
- Wood: The heartwood is lemon yellow with a striking lustre and darkens when exposed to air and light. The sapwood is about 3 cm wide, greenish to yellowish white and cannot be used. The wood is beautifully striped and very decorative due to its contrariness.
- Thickness: 680 – 800 kg/m3
Origin:
Movingui grows mainly in tropical West Africa, from the Ivory Coast to Gabon, Ghana, Cameroon, Liberia and Nigeria.
